How long does blood work take — visit time and result timing

Two timing questions dominate the conversation about blood work: how long the visit takes, and how long until results come back. At our Chantilly walk-in lab, the answers are 10 to 15 minutes for the visit and 24 to 72 hours for results.

The visit itself is short. Check-in (photo ID, confirm the test you want, payment) takes about 5 minutes. The blood draw itself is typically 5 minutes for one or two tubes. Even our deepest Comprehensive Wellness Panel — which covers CBC, CMP, lipid, A1C, thyroid, vitamin D, iron, and key hormones — runs from a single set of tubes, so only one needle stick.

Result timing depends on which panel you ordered. Routine panels — CBC, CMP, lipid, A1C — post in 24 to 48 hours. Thyroid, vitamin D, and most hormones are 24 to 72 hours. The Comprehensive Wellness Panel takes the full 24 to 72 hours because it includes the longest-turnaround marker in the bundle. Specialty panels (mold exposure, heavy metals, micronutrients) take 7 to 10 business days.

You will get an email notification when results post to your secure online portal. From the portal, you can view, download a PDF, or share with any provider. We can also fax results directly to your primary-care office, specialist, or telehealth provider at no additional charge.
